Anusha Bhujel/Sunasari (Pahichan) February 3—Homosexual and transgender have expressed concern over the decreasing door support to them at a time when government has not allocated any budget for this community. Participants pointed the lack of budget at Purbanchal review meeting Federation of Gender and Sexual Minority Simran Sherchan, national program coordinator of Federation said due to lack of budget there are difficulties to work in district.
“The political instability has badly affected the working environment in the district,” said Sherchan. According to Sherchan, government has not provided any budget and even donor agencies are gradually decreasing their budget. She said they are lobbying for additional budget for the gender and sexual minority.
The review meeting has concluded that there is a need to make efforts for budget, formulation of laws as per constitutional provisions, awareness campaign at schools and there is an expanding program at local level. Such initiation helps to tackle with the problems of this community, the conclusion states. Staffs of CBO said there is a need of sharing the problems to bring positive changes. “Such programs would help to build a positive thinking and personality development,” they said.
