Condom Day marked across the country
Lalitpur (Pahichan) October 23 – Members of gender and sexual minority have distributed more than four thousand condoms in Lalitpur district. The distribution was made on the 22th Condom Day by the Parichaya Samaj in coordination with various governmental and non-governmental organizations. According to Manoranjan Kumar Baidhya, condom was distributed with a view of decreasing the vulnerability of HIV AIDS in the society.
According to Blue Diamond Society Kathmandu, due to the awareness program, the number of HIV infection has decreased in Kathmandu valley which was 2.8 percent last year and 2.5 this year, according to Manisha Dhakal, Executive Director of Blue Diamond Society.
Various programs have been conducted in the various parts of the country on the condom day. According to Indira Neupane, Friends Hetauda organized awareness rally, street drama among others. The program was attended by the representatives of various organizations. There was awareness about the benefits of using condoms.
