Dhakal demands incorporation of gender and sexual minorities in awareness campaign

Kathmandu(Pahichan) August 16 –  Gender and sexual minorities have suggested Nepal Police to incorporate them in the gender awareness campaign. At a program on gender-based violence and human trafficking, Executive Director of Blue Diamond Society Manisha Dhakal said members of this community should be a part of awareness campaign.

Nepali Police is incorporating only man and women such program. Dahal suggested SSP of Nepal Police Krishna Prasad Gautam to accommodate them under the O category.  Government has started provided passport and citizenship under O category.  “Nepal policy should formulate policy and law which would be helpful to disclose the gender identity,” Dhakal said.

Office of National Human Rights Commission Kamal Thapa Chhetri said discrimination against sexual and gender minorities should be terminated and Commission is positive on it. SSP Gautam said Nepal police is treating all citizen in an equal manner.
