Kathmandu (Pahichan) November 24 – Government has made a commitment of collecting education certificates as per the gender identity. Ministry of Education made such commitment after the Supreme Court order. Joint Secretary Hari Lamsal said Ministry will taken initiations to correct name and gender identity.
“First we have to make decision and forward to university and educational institutions,” said Lamsal. She also suggested filing an application in the concerned stakeholders demanding to correct it. He said such corrections could be made in grade 8.
He said along with female, male and others. Deputy Director of Blue Diamond Parshuram Rai and Inter-sex rights activists Eshan Regmi said members of this community are denied from opportunities as they lack educational documents as per their gender identity.
“When Inter sex People Madan Kurmi was in school, His elder brother received scholarship but it was denied from it,” said Regmi. The issue of LGBTI is incorporated in the curricula of 6,78 and Curriculum Development Centre is preparing to incorporate this issue in grade 11 and 12.
