I will work to protect the rights of LGBTI: Lawmaker Rana
Kathmandu (Pahichan) August 3 – Lawmaker Narad Muni Rana has said that he would work for the protection of rights of sexual and gender minority. Speaking to Pahichan, Rana who represents CPN (CPN) from Kailali district, said sexual and gender minority is a creation of this society.
He said constitution has provided rights to this community so they need protection. He said new laws will be formulated to protect the rights of lesbian, transgender, bisexual and inter-sex people.
“Government has to formulate a lot of laws and laws of this community accords high priority,” he said adding that laws will be formulated within the deadline set by constitution.
He said provincial and local government will have to take up this issue. “The provincial and local governments are in regular touch with people so they have to ensure the representation of this community,” he said.
