Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 22 – Monica Shahi, a transgender, has received an assurance from Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa that she would be nominated as central committee member. Earlier, she was planning to fight for Central Committee in the open competition category but she withdrew after the assurances. “I am only the representative from this community and many members encouraged me to fight for election. I withdrew after I got assurances from the Chairman Thapa,” Shahi said, adding that there were provisions of 40 nominations and she is hopeful of getting nomination. Chairman of Women Association Kunti Shahi and General Secretary Bikram Pandey also assured her that she would be nominated.
She is supporting other leaders in the party’s election. She said has a dream of making a national image through the politics and she is ideologically close with Thapa. She expressed happiness over the victory of Thapa as party chairman. “I am optimistic that his leadership will give a way out to the country,” she said.
