Indira Neupane/Makawanpur (Pahichan) June 20 – Newly elected local representatives have expressed the commitments that they would play a vital role to bring the gender and sexual minority in the mainstream politics\ society. At a program jointly organized by Friends Hetauda and District Coordination Makawanpur, they expressed such commitments.
They said starting should be from themselves. Suraj Thapa, Program Coordinator of Friend’s Society underlined the need of imparting information to elected representatives about gender and sexual minority. He said elected representatives should be helpful to end the discriminate towards this community in the society.
Human rights activists Sumit Poudel said as members of this community are facing a lot of problems they should be addressed without any delay. Participants in the program said members of this community should disclose their identity and struggle to gain the rights.
