Times College offers scholarship to LGBTI students
Kathmandu (Pahichan) May21 -Times International College located in Dillibazar in Kathmandu has announced to offer fifty percent scholarship to the members of sexual and gender minority.
Speaking at a program organized by Mitini Nepal in the college, Colleague Principal and Vice-principal said education is necessary to avoid discrimination. Niranjan Rijal, Director of Bachelor and Master Degree said they are yet to fix the exact number of scholarship.
“We have heard that population of this community constitutes 8-10 percent of total population, we have announced scholarship with a view that no one should be denied from scholarship due to the lack of money,” he said.
The college, however, said they do not know the existence of this community in the college. Mitini is organizing programs in college with an aim of spreading awareness in schools about gender and sexual minority.
Blue Diamond Society is also reaching out to school to create awareness about this community.
