Tripathi under fire for the defaming speech to transgender
Kathmandu (Pahichan) June 2 – Lawmaker Hridayesh Tripathi has asked the members of sexual and gender minority to separate their political identity. Tripathi termed Local Infrastructure Cooperative program as a transgender on which members of this community have expressed objection. Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung said the statement is justice to this community and it is objectionable.
Gurung said such narrow-minded people cannot represent the people. In her facebook post, transgender rights activist Bhumika Shrestha expressed objection. During the discussions, Tripathi requested to withdraw the program and spend the program in other sectors.
“The constitution has already cemented the rights of this community. How a lawmaker can go against the constitution adopted and approved by him?” said Shrestha. Tripathi has fought election from Surya election symbol of CPN-UML.
