Kathmandu (Pahichan) March 14 – Left analyst Mani Thapa has said that UCPN (Maoist) has failed to accommodate gender and sexual minority in the party. According to him, members of LGBTI who contributed a lot in the in the war are left with serious injury but party was not supportive to ensure their participation in the state mechanisms.
“Various classes and communities received support. There were two prime ministers from the party. It was a great opportunity but it did not work in favor of minority group which has been proved fatal to the party,” Thapa said. Though UCPN (M)-led government allocated budget for the first time it was discontinued.
“UCPN (M) should return to its previous foundation to ensure the rights of all classes. The party should not be representative of rich people,” Thapa said. He said all the political parties as well as government should be serious about the gender and sexual minority. “We are launching a campaign of all caste, ethnic groups and sexuality,” Thapa said.
