We are serious about LGBTI issues: Baral
Rupandehi (Pahichan) August 19 – Sudharshan Baral, Minister for Social Development of province no. 5 government, has said that provincial government is serious about the rights of LGBTI community.
Speaking at a program organized by Blue Diamond Society, Baral said provincial government is in a phase of lawmaking process, and support of all sectors is needed in this process.
Indicating to the rights of LGBTI, he said province-level government would take the rights ensured by constitution seriously.
Lawmaker Kamala Devi Bisokarma said she always supports the campaign of minority rights. “I will knock the door of province government on the issues related to gender and sexual minority,” said Bisokarma.
Executive Director of BDS Manisha Dhakal presented in details about the problems faced by this community, achievements of this community and future challenges.
Under Secretary at Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen Bharat Sharma presented a working paper on legal provisions and various rights of this community. The program was attended by Provincial Parliament member Than Kumari Thapa, Human rights activists Apekshya Dahal, Suman Chepang among others.
