Kathmandu (Pahichan) March 21-A Don who was involved in trashing and beating transgender has been arrested by the police. Police has nabbed Dilip Rai of Dhankuta District who is known as Mohini and Rajan Don in the Kathmandu.
He has attacked the Anil Sherpa Chinti, who is being attended in a campaign of ensuring the rights of transgender. Rai was arrested by a Metropolitan Police Circle, daravaramarga team led by Sub-Inspector Netra Rana following lodged by homosexuals and transgender against Don.
Rana was threatening the homosexuals and transgender in the Thamel, Lazimpat and RatnaPark area to work under him. Rai recently thrashed Sherpa while he was in his office Baluwatar. Rai also thrashed rights activist Sushila Lama.
He also manhandled Pinki Gurung, Chairman of Blue Diamond Society. Transgender and homosexuals said they lodged complaints following the repeated threat, manhandling and beatings. “He used to collect money from us on weekly basis. If we deny giving money, he used to beat in our apartment,” Homosexuals and transgender who reached Hanuman Dhoka to lodge the complaints said.
They complain that even to walk out in the street, they have to get the permission from him. “We want strong action against Mohini who is breaching the country’s law,” they said. Mohini also threatened those journalists who tried to take the picture of his arrest.
He is not associated with Blue Diamond Society. He was threatening to take the life of office bearers of Blue Diamond Society. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Basnet informed that he has been arrested and detained.
He also informed that they are making preparations to lodge case at the court against him. Police Sub-Inspector Rana said as there are not places to keep the transgender in the Durbarmarga, he has been sent to Hanumandhoka.Legal advisor of Blue Diamond Society Prem Bahadur Thapa said Mohini who is known as Don will face the legal actions as per the law.
