Kathmandu (Pahichan) October 28 – Intersex Awareness Day was observed on October 26, 2018. Intersex Awareness Day is an internationally observed civil awareness day designed to highlight the challenges faced by intersex individuals.<\/p>\n
The day was confined in the social media this year. The message of inter-sex day was circulated through social media and there was not any formal celebration.<\/p>\n
In some countries, the day was celebrated organizing some programs, according to inter-sex rights activist Ishan Regmi.\u00a0 United Nations began to raise the issue of this community since 2015. According to latest data, there 40 inter-sex people in Nepal. \u201cState must take initiations to celebrate this day and provide special rights. At the same time, initiations should be taken to remove social stigma,\u201d said Regmi.<\/p>\n
Regmi said inter-sex people are compelled to face discrimination sine their birth. Inter-sex people Pushpa Chaudhary who received support from family is going to participate in international race competition.<\/p>\n
