I was enthusiastic about the film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI trusted the director, she was clear about the film. I never found authenticity or idealism in any of the other films. I felt nobody besides me and my father (were suited) to do\u00a0<em>Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Sonam Kapoor has long advocated for LGBT+ rights<\/h2>\n<p>Sonam Kapoor has spoken out in favour of LGBT+ equality for many years, so it\u2019s no surprise to see her starring in a film with the tagline \u201cLet love be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2014,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinknews.co.uk\/2014\/05\/20\/bollywood-star-indian-anti-gay-law-contradicts-our-culture-its-completely-ok-to-be-gay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">she criticised Section 377<\/a>, a 157-year-old law which,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinknews.co.uk\/2018\/11\/07\/lgbt-bollywood-sex-gay-diwali-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">up until September this year<\/a>, banned gay sex in the country. Kapoor said: \u201cWell you know, unfortunately, in our country right now recently there is a law which\u2026 has said that homosexuality is not legal, which is very sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actress added that it was \u201ccompletely okay to be gay\u201d before saying that \u201cmovies can influence the way people think sometimes, and if we do start making love stories\u2026 I think people will start appreciating them more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinknews.co.uk\/2018\/09\/06\/bollywood-stars-aamir-khan-akshay-kumar-and-more-rejoice-as-india-legalises-gay-sex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Earlier this year<\/a>, after gay sex was decriminalised, Sonam Kapoor celebrated the news.<\/p>\n<p>The star of\u00a0<em>Raanjhanaa<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Khoobsurat<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Dolly Ki Doli<\/em>\u00a0tweeted: \u201cThis is the India I want to live in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot one filled with hate, bigotry, sexism homophobia and intolerance.
