{"id":11628,"date":"2019-01-25T13:29:07","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T07:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pahichan.com\/?p=11628"},"modified":"2019-01-25T13:30:00","modified_gmt":"2019-01-25T07:45:00","slug":"parliament-of-angola-votes-to-decriminalize-homosexuality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pahichan.com\/en\/parliament-of-angola-votes-to-decriminalize-homosexuality\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliament of Angola votes to decriminalize homosexuality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu (Pahichan) January 25 &#8211; The West African nation of Angola has become the first country in 2019 to decriminalise homosexuality.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes as part of sweeping reforms to Angola\u2019s criminal code, removing laws against sex between people of the same gender as well as providing protections of LGBTI+ people in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Human Rights Watch (HRW) released a statement welcoming the improvements for LGBTI+ Angolans.\u00a0Though there have been no recorded convictions under the outgoing law, HRW say LGBTI+ people were vulnerable under the old code.<\/p>\n<div class=\"g g-6\">\n<div class=\"g-single a-631\">\u201cAngola has finally shed the divisive \u2018vices against nature\u2019 provision in its law.
