I want to share an important and deeply personal part of my life \u2014 something that has shaped many of my decisions and something I\u2019ve carried in silence for a long time.<\/p>\n
Both my marriage certificate and my daughter\u2019s birth certificate were never officially registered. They were created unofficially during a time when I felt immense pressure from family and society to hide my true self. A friend, who worked as a ward secretary, helped me with the documents to meet immediate needs \u2014 but they were never entered into the official system.<\/p>\n
Now, my daughter needs her birth certificate to apply for her citizenship card. Unfortunately, the version we have cannot be used for any legal or official process. This situation has brought me to a place where I feel I must finally speak openly and honestly.<\/p>\n
Many of my family members, including my daughter, already know this part of my truth: I am gay. I have lived much of my life in fear, compromise, and silence \u2014 especially within my marriage. I tried to meet others\u2019 expectations, but in doing so, I lost pieces of myself. I no longer want to live this way.<\/p>\n
I intend to help my daughter get her citizenship through her mother\u2019s name, using the correct legal channels. But more than that, I hope to use this moment not only to explain the past but to move forward \u2014 openly, truthfully, and freely.<\/p>\n
I know that some may struggle to understand this. But I hope my honesty will lead to greater compassion, not just for me but for others who may also be living quietly, afraid to be themselves.<\/p>\n
