\u201cEnding marginalisation and exclusion of LGBT people is a human rights priority \u2013 and a development imperative,\u201d said Ban Ki-moon at the UN general assembly last September<\/a>, despite the fact there is no mention of LGBT rights in the sustainable development goals (SDGs) announced at the conference.<\/p>\n Although human rights groups have questioned the absence of specific language on sexual orientation and gender identity in the SDGs, the hope is that the wording is broad enough<\/a> to include the rights of all people and \u201cleave no one behind<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n So given that LGBT people are still marginalised all over the world \u2013 sufferingdisproportionate discrimination in work, school and wider society<\/a> and shocking rates of violence<\/a> \u2013 how can activists, lawyers and politicians work together to achieve change?<\/p>\n
