{"id":6688,"date":"2017-02-25T10:39:51","date_gmt":"2017-02-25T04:54:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pahichan.com\/?p=6688"},"modified":"2017-02-25T10:39:51","modified_gmt":"2017-02-25T04:54:51","slug":"govt-to-introduce-special-laws-to-address-the-same-sex-marriage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pahichan.com\/en\/govt-to-introduce-special-laws-to-address-the-same-sex-marriage\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt to introduce special laws to address the same-sex marriage  \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 25 &#8211; As government prepares to address same-sex marriage through special provisions, it has been revealed that Legislative Committee of Parliament has not incorporated this issue.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Lawmaker Radheshyam Adhikari who worked as coordinator of sub-committee formed under the main committee has revealed that it was omitted following the request from government. \u201cThis is a new issue in Nepal.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore we held discussions in the committee and sub-committee level with various stakeholders,\u201d he said, adding that Ministry of law suggested preparing a separate law on legalizing same-sex marriage. At that time, Tek Prasad Dhungana was Law Secretary and Law Minister was UML Leader Agni Prasad Kharel.<\/p>\n<p>He said it is a positive that Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare has formed a committee to prepare a draft on legalizing same-sex marriage. He said special law is beneficial and there will not be any problem on dispensing the justice.<\/p>\n<p>He said members of this community can take the benefit of both laws. \u201cThe issues of this community have emerged strongly so that there is a need of addressing the issues of this community,\u201d Adhikari said.
