{"id":6733,"date":"2017-03-07T09:01:04","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T03:16:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pahichan.com\/?p=6733"},"modified":"2017-03-07T09:01:04","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T03:16:04","slug":"two-transgender-pakistanis-tortured-to-death-in-saudi-arabia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pahichan.com\/en\/two-transgender-pakistanis-tortured-to-death-in-saudi-arabia\/","title":{"rendered":"Two transgender Pakistanis tortured to death in Saudi Arabia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"author\">Saba Rani\/ Pahichan &#8211; Two transgender persons, both natives of\u00a0Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), died on Tuesday after being subjected to torture allegedly by Saudi police in Riyadh for dressing up as women in public.<\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Thirty-five transgender people were arrested by a law enforcement agency for cross-dressing, which is a punishable offence in the kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>A rest house was raided where a \u2018Guru Chela Chalan\u2019 gathering, a formal meeting of Khuwaja Sara in which they choose their Guru (leader) and Chelas\u00a0(Students), was taking place.<\/p>\n<p>Amna, 35, who belonged to the Mingora area of Swat and Meeno, 26, who was from Peshawar died in police custody. The police allegedly packed them in sacks and thrashed them with sticks in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Colonel Fawaz bin Jameel alMaiman, the police\u2019s media spokesperson in Riyadh, told\u00a0a local news agency that the field-control management had the site under constant surveillance.\u00a0Women\u2019s clothing and jewellery were also recovered from the rest house.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the 35 people inside had been apprehended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMajority of the arrested, belong to K-P and the others from other cities of Pakistan.
