Kathmandu (Pahichan) May 2 – Chief\u00a0 Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav has said that EC is facing difficulties to ensure therepresentation\u00a0gender and sexual minority. This is happening, according to them, as members\u00a0of this community are not listed as minority group in the law. He said EC will hold the election\u00a0as per the law formulated by Parliament that is why it is facing difficulties.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cThe community which has the population of\u00a0 0.5 has been enlisted as minority but gender and sexual minority\u00a0are not enlisted,\u201d Yadav said adding that EC is facing difficulties to ensure the representation of this community. He said though EC is working to ensure the representation\u00a0of this community, legal framework is not sufficient\u00a0to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the members of this community drew the attention, we have incorporated transgender in gendersection\u00a0along with male and female,\u201d Yadav said. Only 143 voters have given their\u00a0 identity. This happened due to the citizenship.\u00a0 He suggested the members of this community to establish themselves through open\u00a0competition. \u00a0He said there has been progress in inclusion.<\/p>\n

Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung said that EC should work for the welfare of gender and sexual minority. She submitted a memorandum of understanding.\u00a0 This is the first time that EC held discussions with members of gender and sexual minority.<\/p>\n

Gurung said members of this community are playing a vital role in all political changes.\u00a0 Secretary at EC Gopi Nath Mainali aid that members of this community can file their candidacy in the election.\u00a0 He said EC failed to reserve this community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
