{"id":8920,"date":"2017-11-30T16:21:17","date_gmt":"2017-11-30T10:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pahichan.com\/?p=8920"},"modified":"2017-11-30T16:21:17","modified_gmt":"2017-11-30T10:36:17","slug":"murals-recognise-activism-against-gender-based-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pahichan.com\/en\/murals-recognise-activism-against-gender-based-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"Murals recognise activism against Gender Based Violence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu (Pahichan) November 30 &#8211; Australia\u2019s Ambassador to Nepal HE Peter Budd launched three mural paintings called Oranging the\u00a0History: Remembering the Brave and the Forgottens; Neglected and Naming their Individuality on the\u00a0walls at the Australian Embassy, Bansbari, Hotel Himalaya, Kupondole, and at Dhumbarahi<br \/>\nrespectively.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pahichan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/24203722_1473656299418467_1563619224_n-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-8923\" src=\"http:\/\/pahichan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/24203722_1473656299418467_1563619224_n-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"143\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pahichan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/24203722_1473656299418467_1563619224_n-1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/pahichan.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/24203722_1473656299418467_1563619224_n-1.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 143px) 100vw, 143px\" \/><\/a>The murals were painted in collaboration with Ujyalo Foundation to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence-2017. They reveal untold stories of the heroes who fought for the rights\u00a0of women and LGBTIs. The Asian Paints Nepal supported with the paints. Each mural has a plaque\u00a0with it to explain its meaning and significance.<br \/>\n<strong>Launching the murals, Ambassador Budd said:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cGender based violence is a gross violation of human rights that has a devastating impact on\u00a0victims, communities, and societies. It is unacceptable in all its forms, and it is to our collective\u00a0shame that no country is free from it.<\/p>\n<p>Eliminating violence against women and girls everywhere is a priority for the Australian\u00a0Government, delivered through our foreign policy, economic diplomacy and aid programs\u00a0and founded on our strong support for dialogue, reform and advocacy on gender equality.<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0partner with the private sector to increase women&#8217;s economic empowerment, we engage in\u00a0political systems to promote women in leadership, we support local champions and service providers seeking to end violence against women, and we defend and embrace language on\u00a0gender equality and women&#8217;s rights in international fora.<\/p>\n<p>The Sustainable Development Goals recognise the elimination of violence against women is fundamental to our future prosperity. SD Goal 5 targets all forms of violence against women\u00a0and girls in the public and private spheres, including trafficking, and sexual and other types of\u00a0exploitation.<\/p>\n<p>It requires co-ordinated, multi-sectoral approaches which have women\u2019s safety at their core to\u00a0drive attitudinal changes within every community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>On the occasion, Ms Amuda Mishra the Founder and Executive Director of Ujyalo Foundation said:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cThese murals on public domain are a way to express ourselves and encourage others to speak\u00a0against violence.
