A bottle was smashed over his face,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But he didn\u2019t go the police. He didn\u2019t want to engage with them. He dealt with domestic abuse and family illness.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019d spend weeks on end at a friend\u2019s house,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s not a good way to live. Nobody should feel like they have to lie to their parents.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u2018I now live in an Albert Kennedy Trust property.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Anira, a trans woman, came from Denmark to London. But due to not being able to keep a job, she couch-surfed for months.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018People would take pictures and film me,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I was just outside, trying to spend my time out and about. It was rude.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u2018It was unacceptable to be trans [in my family]\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A trans guy from a Pakistani-Iranian family, who was not named at the panel, lost his father when he was young.<\/p>\n<p>From a very young age, he knew he was not a girl. One time, he cut his plaits off to the shock of his mother.<\/p>\n<p>At 15, his mother died. And while his mother wasn\u2019t accepting of his gender identity, the aunt that took him in was worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It was unacceptable to be trans,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We had a lot of arguments and fights\u2026 I felt invalidated.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Carla, a outreach worker, said she had dealt with domestic abuse that led her to staying with friends for six months.<\/p>\n<p>For some people there\u2019s one damaging situation,\u2019 she said. saying she felt like she was \u2018broken down by different experiences\u2019.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u2018Our community is made up of the hidden homeless.\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u2018Our community is made up of the hidden homeless.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018People have this idea\u00a0 if you\u2019re homeless you\u2019re in a doorway.
