I will not give anyone the right to frighten me or affect my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her first statement was made in German on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"instagram-embed-0\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BhmiEn7hw58\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=8&amp;wp=620&amp;rd=meanshappy.com#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A5453.400000000329%7D\" width=\"300\" height=\"1357\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-0\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In a second statement, Conchita Wurst confirmed she has been on treatment for several years. She is now undetectable and cannot pass on the HIV virus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUntil now, I did not want to go public with this information for a number of reasons, only two of which I\u2019ll mention,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt is information that, in my opinion, is almost exclusively relevant to those with whom sexual contact would be an option\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cFirst and foremost my family, who know everything and have been supporting me since day one. I would have gladly spared them the attention connected to the hiv-status of their son, grandson and brother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLikewise, my friends have been aware of this for quite some time and are dealing with it with an impartiality, that I would wish everyone concerned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecondly, it is information that, in my opinion, is almost exclusively relevant to those with whom sexual contact would be an option.\u201d<\/p>\n<h1>HIV charities have applauded her bravery<\/h1>\n<p>Conchita\u2019s statement, and the actions of her ex, has drawn criticism from the Terrence Higgins Trust.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision to talk openly about your HIV status should be a personal one and not taken away or ever, ever used as a threat,\u201d says Ian Green, CEO of the trust.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThreatening to reveal someone\u2019s HIV status, under any circumstances, is entirely wrong\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThreatening to reveal someone\u2019s HIV status, under any circumstances, is entirely wrong.
