Kusum Dulal/Nestledin the Kavrepalanchowk district of Nepal, Bethankchowk Narayanthan attracts nature enthusiasts with its breathtaking views and a touch of spirituality. Standing at an altitude of 3000 mabove sea level, it offers stunning views of the surrounding hills, valleys and distant peaks.Tempted by its unparalleled beauty, and to explore the natural beauty, scenic view and spiritual significance, I decided to visit Narayanthan with my sister and maternal uncles.

On a fresh Saturday morning, on 27 April, 2024, we set off at 7:30am from Bethanchowck -3 with backpacks equipped with necessary materials for the journey. The hike went through Khorthapre,Thimureghari and a jungle path to Bethanchowk.

The unfolding beauty of terraced fields and vibrant flowers made our journey exciting.The trail windsfrom dense forests offered a glimpse into the region’s rich biodiversity. Afterwalking two and a half hours, we reached Thalichaur.Exhausted, but our desire to see the panoramic view from the top of Narayanthan kept us motivated to continue.

Peaceful surroundings and hills made our journey wonderful. The top of the hill offered the majestic mountain views, along with some views of the lowlands like Janakpur and Makwanpur districts.

Along the way, we could see some trusts that were set up in different places for travelersto rest. We also enjoyed a Buddha park and a photo station along the path.

After hiking for 4 hours, we finally reached Narayanthan. Upon reaching the top at a height of 3018m above sea level, it felt like we were above the clouds. Wecould seeMount Dhaulagiri from the eastern part of BethanchowkNarayanthan,and Mt. Everest, Makalu, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, DorjeLakpa, and Langtang range could also be observed from the western part.

A temple of Lord Vishnu is located at the top, marking its religious significance. Besides, it boasts a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the whole hill is named Narayanthan.

There is a small cave adjacent to the Bethanchowk hill, making it an attractive place to explore. The caveis beautiful and small. However, we were not allowed into as the attempt to get inside the cave could be fatal according to a belief.

The main reason people hike is to enjoy beautiful views of the mother nature. Bethankchowk Narayanthan is a perfect destination for those seeking peace away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The hike helps people to establish a connection with nature, and holds a special place in every traveler’s heart.Bethanchowk Narayanthan promises an unforgettable journey through Nepal’s serene landscapes.
