Kathmandu : A team of mountaineers, led by renowned Kazakh mountaineer Maxut Zhumayev, has embarked on an expedition to climb Mount Manaslu. The expedition is organised by Seven Summit Treks (SST), a prominent Nepal-based adventure operator.
Zhumayev, the founder of the Kazakh Alpine Club, has built his career in alpinism, rock climbing, and extreme mountain adventures with a track record of successful ascents on 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen or additional human support.
In this expedition too, he aims to summit the peak without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support, said SST’s General Manager Thaneswar Guragai. SST has expressed its supports and best wishes to the team for a successful climb.
Standing at 8,163 meters (26,781 feet) above sea level, Mt Manaslu is considered a technically demanding climb, requiring a high level of physical fitness, technical climbing skills, and experience in high-altitude mountaineering.
