Kathmandu : Nepalese climber Nima Rinji Sherpa is inching closer to become youngest climber to complete all 14 peaks above 8,000 metres in the world. He is departing for China tomorrow to attempt Shishapangma (8,027 metres), the remaining last peak of completing his 14th 8,000er challenge.
“I am delighted to announce that I will be heading to China tomorrow for my 14th peak, Shishapangma. I’m on the verge of completing my dream project and becoming the world’s youngest person to climb all 14 peaks at just 18,” said Nima on social media.
Nima has achieved many feats in climbing sector. He started his climbing career at the tender age of just 14, becoming the youngest person to summit Manaslu in 2022.
Since then, he has broken many records, including being the youngest climber to traverse Everest and Lhotse, and climb other highest peaks, including Nanga Parbat, K2, and Kangchenjunga.
Nima Rinji from Makalu in Sankhuwasabha district is the youngest son of record holding climber, Tashi Lakpa Sherpa. Tashi Lakpa, SST’s Managing Director and Chairperson of 14 Peaks Expedition, set a world record becoming the youngest climber to scale Mt Everest without bottled oxygen at the age of 19.
