Essential human services halted

Kathmandu (Pahichan) August 9 – The treatment concerning the HIV prevention and infection has been stopped from July 15. This happened due to the negligence of National HIV and AIDS prevention Center. This has affected nearly three 3, 00000 gender and sexual minorities, homosexual and transgender.

“The treatment should not be stopped” Executive Director of Blue Diamond Society Manisha Dhakal said, “it will affect the plan of decrease the number of HIV to zero by 2030. Society, Nagarjun Development Community and National AIDS Federation drew the attention of Center not to stop the treatment.

They cautioned the director of Center Dipendra Singh not to conduct any activities that would promote infection and treatment latter. Society Chairman Pinki Gurung said it is a matter of sad as Center did not take any initiation for the resumption of treatment service. Though Global Fund has been provided any budget there was a commitment that government would provide 27 billion for the resumption of service which has sprouted the grave concern, they said.

Jagadish Chandra Bhatta, Executive Director of Nagarjun Development Community said due to the government’s ill policy, the essential human services has been stopped for four month. Deputy Director of Society, Parshuram Rai underlined the need of resumption of services. Stakeholders have demanded to continue the program. Executive Director Dhakal said discussions are underway with Save the Children for the resumption of services.
