Kathmandu(Pahichan) September 5 – Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit has said that the current provisions that would not allow entering the gender and sexual minorities in government service should be scrapped. He said members of this community should get the right to join the government services without any discrimination.“Public Service Commission is responsible to ensure the participation of this community in state mechanisms. Any members willing to compete should be allowed to join government services,” Pandit said. In a meeting with Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung, Executive Director Manisha Dhakal, Deputy Program Director of Day project Sanjaya Sharma and homosexual Bisoraj Adhiarki, Pandit said there would not be absolute equality but it is a relative one.
“No citizenship should be discriminated. I do not have narrow mindset.” Pandit said. Dhakal said government agencies have discriminated the members of this community. She urged to bring a policy to end the discrimination and ensuring the participation. Dhakal said government agencies should issue a circular urging not to discriminate the members of this community while providing training.
“All the human beings should be treated in an equal way,” Dhakal said. According to Pandit, they have incorporated his part in the trainings. “I have urged not to discriminate anyone while providing trainings,” Pandit said. Dhakal demanded to ensure the reservation for the members of this community.
