Kathmandu (Pahichan) March 17 – New Singer Anchal Sharma homosexual and transgender should be provided opportunity to play a role in cinema as per their wishes. Sharma’s position comes at a time when there are complaints that members of gender and sexual minority are being presented as a mocked character in cinema. “No one should express their objection if they are willing to play role in cinema,” said Sharma adding that they should not projected in a negative way.
She said that it is a positive development that newly adopted constitution has granted rights to this community. She underlined the need of implementation of newly adopted constitution. “Many issues have been mentioned in the constitution but they remain unimplemented, we should focus on implementation,” said Sharma. Sharma further added that members of gender and sexual minority should be treated like man and women and discrimination will not come to an end until there is awareness campaign in the society.
“Society has negative attitude towards female, so society cannot take as a normal way if LGBTI members play role in the cinema,” she said. Sharma entered in this field from the cinema Nai Na Bhanu La. She said her profession is linked with her future. “If audience like my role, it would contribute to my career,” said Sharma adding that she is ready to correct them if there are any mistakes. She is planning to play in other cinema only about receiving feedback from this cinema. This cinema will be screened in the Kahtmandu valley from Chaitra 26, according to Bikash Acharya.
