Rupandehi (Pahichan) August 14 – A research conducted in western region by IBBS has show that most of the HIV infected is homosexual male and transgender community. At a program organized at Bhairawaha, NIDR coordinator Purushtoom Khatiwada said in comparison to other regions, the members of this community in western region are HIV infected.
The research was conducted in Rupandehi, Kapilvastu and Nawalparsi Altogether 120 homosexual and transgender participated in the research. The research was conducted on the month of Ashad. National AIDS and HIV Centre and Save the Children provided assistances for the research.
The research was done by National Institute for Development and Research. According to Khatiwada, the research has explored the sexual activities, knowledge and other practical aspects. “Research was also focused on their access to service, according to Manila Neupane, Office Chief of Blue Diamond Society Bhairawaha.
Neupane drew the attention of local bodies that there is a need of increased access to treatment and District Health Office should come up with strategy and new program to prevent the further infection. Senior Coordinator of Save the Children Western Region Hem Poudel said the further program should focus on testing, treatment and identity.
