Training for govt health workers on LGBTI issues

Makawanpur (Pahichan) March 24 – Blue Diamond Society has provided training to government health workers to equip them with knowlede about gender and sexual minority.  There was the presence of 30 health-workers from Chitwan, Makawanpur, Bara, Parsa and Rautahat districts.

The training was organized in Hetauda. The aim of training was to inform the health related problems faced by this community along with informing them about the discrimination they are facing due to their separate gender identity.

According to Sanjaya Sharma, Deputy Coordinator of  Diwa Project the training is about HIV aids and communicable diseases.  Gauri Shankar Pandey of Ministry of Education, Purnima Dangol from Bir Hospital, and Shambhu Kattel from Center from HIV Prevention and Control served as trainer in the training.

Suraj Thapa, Program Coordinator of Makwanpur District of BDS served as facilitator of training. After the training, they said that misconception towards  this community has been removed.
