Kathmandu (Pahichan) May 15 – Centenarian Satya Mohan Joshi has conferred transgender rights activist Aanik Rana and others from Nai Award. Rana who is from Rupandehi has bagged Nai Ram Laxmi award. Nai is organizing a special program every year to mark the birthday of Joshi. Joshi has turned to 100 years few days back.

Nai Publication has said that Rana has been awarded for the contribution she made to secure the rights of sexual and gender minority and HIV prevention.

Member Secretary of Publication Narendra Raj Prasai said they are providing award to the community which has different identity than male and female. In the prize distribution ceremony,  Prasai asked the participants to stand up the transgender. Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung,

Transgender Bhumika Shrestha, Federation of Sexual and Gender Minority Simran Sherchan and rights activist Pushpa Lama presented themselves in the program. Prasai said Nepal is the only country which provides award to gender and sexual minority. The prize received by Rana carries 50 thousand cash.
