Mayako Pahichan Nepal Denounces Aamul Paribartan Nagarik Party’s Rally Against LGBTQI Rights and Abortion

Kathmandu – Mayako Pahichan Nepal, an NGO dedicated to advocating for the rights and welfare of gender and sexual minorities, expresses deep concern regarding the upcoming protest rally organized by the Aamul Paribartan Nagarik Party (Radical Change Citizen’s Party) on October 30th at Maitighar Mandala. This rally, which aims to oppose homosexuality, gender transition, and abortion, fundamentally contradicts the spirit of the Constitution of Nepal, which recognizes the rights and dignity of all individuals.

We are alarmed by the growing voices from both the extreme right and extreme left that seek to undermine the progress made in LGBTQI rights and women rights. The Aamul Paribartan Citizen Party’s affiliation with right-wing Christian organizations further raises red flags about their intentions and the potential impact on marginalized communities and women in general.

We call upon all stakeholders, including the government and civil society, to uphold the values of inclusion, equality, and human rights enshrined in our Constitution. It is crucial to stand against hate and discrimination in all forms, ensuring that every citizen, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity, is afforded the rights they deserve.

We urge the public and media to remain vigilant and supportive of Women and LGBTQI rights as we navigate these challenging times. Together, we can foster a society that embraces diversity and promotes acceptance for all.
