Kailali (Pahichan) September 14 – Dhangadi sub-metropolitan city has expressed commitment to implement programs targeting sexual and gender minority.
Speaking at a program organized by Blue Diamond Society Dhangadi, Mayor Nrup Bahadur Bad said municipality is serious about this community.
Deputy Mayor Sushila Mishra confessed that they have not taken the plights of this community in a serious way. She underlined the need of serious and in-depth perspectives to resolve the problems faced by this community.
Jhankar Bahadur Bista, Under Sectary at Social Development Ministry of province no. 7, said the issues of Janajati, sex and gender are already mentioned in the constitution. He expressed the commitment to incorporate the issues of this community in education and health sector.
Sanjaya Sharma, Deputy Program Coordinator of Diwa Project said no ministries have accommodated this community. He urged the provincial government to take up the issues of this community and address accordingly. Raju Lama of Far-western Society informed about the issues of this community and promulgates policy and program.
