Ensure basic human rights of LGBTI : Stakeholders

Butwal (Pahichan) December 11 – On the auspicious occasion of 70th International Human Rights Day, various organizations working in the field of human rights organized a morning rally in Butwal. The morning rally which started from Chaurhawa ended in Hospital line.

Addressing the program, Lila Giri, Forest, Environment and Tourism Ministry of province no. 5 said that human rights friendly laws would be promulgated. The slogan of the program was “Sustainable Development and Human Rights: The foundation of Nepal.”  He recalled the struggle launched by Nepali people for the long time against all forms of discrimination.

Third Gender Anik Rana who is also chairman of Mono Supporting Group Rupandehi said members of sexual and gender minority is denied from human rights. Rana was of the view that members of this community are facing the problems like a fish faces troubles in the lack of water.

Vice Chairman of Human Rights and Peace Society Govinda Khanal said state itself is acting against human rights. He demanded the resignation of Home Minister for his failure to find out the culprit in the rape and murder of Nirmala Pant.

Deputy Chief of Butwal Municiaplity Guma Devi Acharya, Province no. 5 chief of National Human Rights Commission, President of Human Rights and Peace Society Rupandehi Chief DP Khanal, INSEC representative Rima BC and Secretary Arjun Gywali under the need of importance of human rights. They said that state should ensure the human rights of all people.
