Kathmandu (Pahichan) January 18 – Israel has expressed its readiness to provide skill based trainings to Nepali LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex) community. The assistance aims to make this community independent. The country also stressed that discrimination against this community should be ended.
Mr. Yaron Mayer, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal said that no citizen should be prohibited of their human rights. United Nations General Assembly has committed that this community should not be discriminated. Ambassador Mayer said, “We are finding ways to help Nepali LGBTI community. One of them could be sending its members to participate in MASHAV courses and training programs that are held in Israel alongside participants from other countries so that they can learn from Israel and replicate here in Nepal.”
MASHAV is an International Agency for International Development and Cooperation. During the meeting with Mr. Parsuram Rai, Deputy Director of Blue Diamond Society, Ambassador Mayer said, “We will try to help Nepali LGBTI community in skill-based training programs.” Mr. Rai requested Ambassador Mayer to support his community as Israel has been supporting in other areas.
Ambassador Mayer told that this community can be helped in cooperation with the Government of Nepal. Recently, few days ago, an Israeli organization, IsralAid which is working in Nepal, has visited Blue Diamond Society and provided “Hotline Operator Training” to the staffs.
