Saptari (Pahichan) July 19 – Gender and sexual minority community has organized an interaction program with police administration. The program was organized at Rajbiraj, heaquarter of Saptari district. The program was organized at I-Garden Restaurant and there was the presence of 40 police officials.
In the program, DSP Upreti presented a paper on the commitment made by police on human rights and other issues related to human right.
“There was lack of clarity regarding the constitutional rights of homosexual and transgender. The prison system of Nepal police is only for male and female. We will think about it,” said Upreti.
Manohar Kumar Pokhrel, INSEC representative presented regarding the violation of human rights. Sanjaya Sharma, Deputy Program Coordinator of Day Project of BDS informed about about, gender and sexuality.
From LGBTI community Ram Prakash Chaudhary and Umesh Chaudhary shared the problems they faced in the society. The interaction program was organized under Global Fund, Save the Children and MSM grant.
