Morang (Pahichan) October 29 – Members of gender and sexual minority have celebrated Chhath festival with fanfare. They have said that that in the past they used to face a lot of difficulties to celebrate Chhath festival due to their identity.
Now, they said such tendencies have come to an end. In the past, members this community were denied to go to river banks to celebrate Chhath festival.
In the past, there was discrimination against this community and they were taken as untouchable. Transgender Ramila Madhuri said she is feeling happiness this time as members of community were allowed to go to river bank to celebrate Dashain festival. In comparison to past, Madhuri said there has been change in the society.
