Kavre (Pahichan) December 9 – Transgender rights activist Babi Tamang has said that journalist and police personal approach her for sexual relation. Babi said journalists come to her on the pre-text of asking questions while police attempt to have sexual relation forcefully.
“Fist journalist says they want to meet to ask some questions and they make proposal. Police personnel forcefully take benefit from us,” said Tamang.
Tamang said government neither provides job nor allows doing current profession without fear. She said members of this community are not capable to get job so government should pay attention on it. Tamang said no one understands the plights of this community. Tamang said police frequently arrests them from Ratnapark and other areas and impose fine.
She said even journalist are biased as they never asks questions to male for their involvement in sexual relation. She said members of this community are adopting sex as their profession due to compulsion as they are not getting jobs. She said members of this community are engaged in their own profession as well.
Anee Lama, Miss Pink 2016 is operating her own boutique. Sophia is working as Make-up artists. Transgender Anjali achieved an international award in India and Meghana Lama is running a restaurant.
