Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 15 – Transgender rights activist Bhumika Shrestha there is a need of identifying homosexual and transgender in the early age. Shrestha is Program Officer at LGBTI Child project, a joint initiative of Blue Diamond Society and Save the Children.
Shrestha said the main purpose is ending discrimination against children which begins by their birth. Similarly, they will work to end the tendencies of changing the sexual identity. “Our purpose is to identify LGBTI children so that they will not have to face discrimination,” Shrestha said. “We will give orientation to the guardian asking them not to discriminate. There is lack of organizations that works in favor of LGBTI children,” Shrestha added.
“I did not complete my study due to discrimination in school. We hope that our children will not face such problems,” said Shrestha adding that her purpose is to make a society without any discrimination.
