Kathmandu (Pahichan) December 28 – Pinky Gurung has been reelected as Chairman of Blue Diamond Society. She was elected as chair from BDS’s Annual General meeting held in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Speaking about her reelection, Gurung said the advocacy for the rights of this community is a collective effort. Gurung said members of this community should come at forefront to receive the rights mentioned in the constitution.

Executive Director of Blue Diamond Society Manisha Dhakal said the organization always remains active to protect the human rights of this community. Dhakal said mainly police administration is breaching the human rights of this community.

Deputy Director of BDS Parshuram Rai said Ministry of Education has responded in a positive way to provide educational certificate on the basis of gender identity.

Finance Chief of BDS Bishnu Raj Panta presented the details of financial assistances provided by BDS. Transgender Pushpa Lama said if donor agencies stop the assistance it will affect the treatment that members of this community are receiving.

In the program, Ishwari Pariyar of Kathmandu Metropolitan City expressed the commitment of assisting members of this community to ensure their rights. She suggested to report if members of this community faced any problems.
