Kaski (Pahichan) January 7 – Chairman of Blue Diamond Society Pinky Gurung has said that members of this community should not feel discriminated and isolated in the society.

Addressing a program in Pokhara organized targeting Gay community, Guurng said if members of this community conceal their identity, they will be the loser.

“You have to demand your right to marry. You have to be more united to secure your rights,” said Gurung. She said there is a need of further pressure to implement the government report on same-sex marriage.

The program was attended by more than gay people from across the country. There was various component of the program: from screening of film to discussions on the issues related to LGBTI. Bisoraj Adhikari, First Gay Handsome who is affiliated with Blue Diamond Society motivated the participants to raise their issues in the society. He explained about the importance of Gay Handsome competition.

Speaking in the program, Advocate Sujan Panta informed participants about their constitutional rights. He elaborated in details about the rights of this community mentioned in the new constitution.

Journalist Madhav Dulal elaborated about the importance of media in establishing the rights of gender and sexual minority. He said Pahichan Radio Program and PahichanOnline is playing vital role to highlight the issues of gender and sexual minority. The two-day program was very fruitful to discuss the wide-range of issues related to sexual and gender minority. Members of this community shared their plights and problems saying that they need to be addressed. The program was attended by senior officials of BDS, media and people from various sectors.
