Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 18 – Blue Diamond Society has demanded to halt the construction conducted by Maharjan Business Associates which is threatening the existence of Kumari Ghar. A probe committee formed by District Administration Office has also said that government is becoming helpless to prevent it.
“The serious attention of Blue Diamond Society has been drawn over the construction of Maharjan Business Construction which has threatened the existence of old cultural heritage,” the statement issued by BDS states. The BDS said even District Administration has concluded that the construction has failed to fulfill the standards.
The Hanuman Dhoka area is enlisted in UNESCO heritage sites. The BDS has criticized the state for its failure to protect it. BDS has drawn the attention of government saying that such move could led to delisting this area from UNESCO list. BDS has expressed its full support to the movement launched by people to protect it.
Asking to implement the report, BDS has demanded stern action against those officials involved in those activities. Society has said that heritage has upheld Nepal’s identity and dignity in the word arena. “We are always committed to protect such heritage,” the statement reads.
