Stakeholders stress on launching pressure campaigns

Binod BC/Rupandehi (Pahichan) May 16 – Submitting their memorandum to local government, members of sexual and gender minorities have stressed on launching campaigns to exert pressure in order to fulfill the demands.

Speaking at an interaction jointly organized by Blue Diamond Society Rupandehi and Norwegian Project, stakeholders made such statements. Thaneshwor Poudel, Chair of Siddhartha Municipality-3 underlined the need of implementing awareness campaign in the grass-root level in order to end discrimination imposed by society.

Program Coordinator of Rupandehi Chapter, Manila Neupane presented about the tasks performed by BDS and current status of sexual and gender minority. Neupane urged local elected representatives to raise the voices of this community to provide equal rights to them.

Rajan Jung Rana, Muktinath Yadav, Karunjan Shrestha among others expressed their opinions.  Rights activists of BDS Suman Chepang delivered welcomed speech while Pahichan colleague Binod B.C operated the program. A documentary film on LGBTI was screened in the program.
