Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 19 – In the valentine day, Mitini Nepal has expressed its solidarity in a campaign launched against women violence. The day is observed as a symbol of exchange of love and memory.
Laxmi Ghalan, Chair of Mitini Nepal, said members of sexual and gender minorities are facing a lot of violence in society. She is of the view that all men are equal and they have the rights to live with equal dignity. She further added that this community is in the rights of identity for the long time and facing discrimination.
She said they are supporting the campaign launched by women seeking their identity in society. On Valentine Day, Mitini Nepal has staged a street drama which presents a story of lesbian who is being forced to marry with a heterosexual male.
Saru KC, executive director of Mitini Nepal has imagined the plot of drama and it was written by inter-sex rights activist Bipin Kadayat and Ashok Siwakoti.
