Complications in the implementation of constitutional rights

Rupandehi (Pahichan) June 21 – Members of sexual and gender minority have said that there are a lot of difficulties in the implementation of their constitutional rights.

They said that they lack self-dignity in the society and there are not jobs for the members of this community in government and private sectors due to the high discrimination.  Speaking at a program organized by Social Development Ministry of Province no. 5, ministers, human rights activist and other stakeholders highlighted the discrimination against this community.

Sudharsan Baral, Social Development Minister of said there are some problems while understanding about this community. He said provincial government is all set to address the issues of this community. He said mainstream political parties and mainstream media are raising the issues of this community in a positive way.

Chairman of BDS Pinky Gurung said though the rights of this community are established it remains incomplete. He said transgender are facing discrimination in each and every step. Transgender Aanik Rana said society should respect this community and a concern of this community remains unaddressed.

Other speakers in the program also highlighted the need of addressing the problems faced by this community. Social Development Division at Ministry Sarada Bashyal said such program was organized to promote the rights of this community.
