Kathmandu (Pahichan) February 23 – District Administration office Bajura for the first time has provided citizenship to Eshan Regmi as per the gender identity. As per the record of Ministry of Home Affairs, about 1300 members of sexual and gender minority have received citizenship as per their gender identity.
Ministry of Home Affairs had issued a circular to district administration offices on 2069 Poush 16 to provide citizenship as per gender identity. Regmi who is introducing himself as inter-sex people said he was successful to get the copy of citizenship as there is not law to change the name.
District administration office took such decisions after the overall study of his upbringing. He was born as women but when he crossed certain age, he showed the characters and habits of male. He has been granted Hila name. Regmi said that now he would give application in order to correct his education certificates and other documents.
