CTEVT ready for joint or separate vocational training for gender and sexual minorities

Kathmandu(Pahichan) August 16- Newly appointed Vice-chair of Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training Dr. Kul Bahadur Basnet has said that a separate training session will be launched for homosexual and transgender if they come up with a group. “My first priority is to incorporate them with man and women,” Basnet said, “If they feel uncomfortable we are ready to manage them separate class”

Speaking to Pahichan, Vice-chair Basent said gender and sexual minorities could select the training they want to receive. “We have a lot of training, among them what types of trainings are useful for gender and sexual minorities, homosexual and transgender among others,” he said adding that CTEVT would not discriminate but will motivate them.

He said homosexual and transgender are natural phenomenon and they should not be deprived from opportunity and rights. “It is better to form a separate group for the purpose of demonstrating identity,” Basnet said, “But we are ready to go on any alternatives.”

He said CTEVT Is open even if gender and sexual minorities will themselves run the training.  Chairman of Blue Diamond Society and Executive Director Manish Dhakal asked to make separate arrangements to provide trainings for gender and sexual minorities. They also demanded to provide scholarship to the poor members of this community.
