Homosexual and transgender should get respect : Chaudhary

Kathmandu (Pahichan) October 14- Former Lawmaker Shanta Chaudhary has said that it is a welcome move to mention the rights of homosexual and transgender in the new constitution.  “Nepal is second country in the world which has ensured the rights of gender and sexual minority in the new constitution,” Chaudhary said, “It is a very good, it has established a notion that all the citizen are equal and they should be treated equally.”  She said homosexual and transgender should be treated equally.

“Members of this community have already received passports and citizenship under O category. There was the representation of this community in the previous Parliament. We discussed about the rights of this community for several hours,” Chaudhary said. Sunil Babu Pant. Chaudhary said she personally knew some members of this community.

“The members of this community were present during a rally in Dang, society is gradually accepting the members of this community,” she said adding that there will be gradual improvement in the society.  According to her, member of this community should get reservation though she is personally against this system. “We should provide reservation to the members of this community,” she said. She said everything should be taken positively. She has started a campaign of peace, prosperity and development and top leaders of major parties have supported her campaign.
