Kathmandu (Pahichan) November 29 – Independent lawmaker Atahar Kamaal Musalman has said that if gender and sexual minority remains mum, the rights ensured by new constitution could be dismissed. Speaking to Pahichan Radio program, Kamaal said this community should be active. “This community was very active to ensure their rights in constitution as well as in passport and citizenship, the same level of activeness is necessary again,” said Kamaal. “The constitutionally guaranteed rights could be missed in the lawmaking process so there is a need of continuous vigilance,” said Kamaal.
There are the examples that many countries have guaranteed the rights of this community in the constitution but that has not been translated into laws,” he said. According to him, after the promulgation of laws, it should be effectively implemented.
